The originally installed Pressure Regulator Valves in Crown Hills were very prone to failure. Most of those original valves have either already failed or are about to fail. The best way to check those valves is to use a Water Pressure measuring device that can be attached to many points on the system and simply measures the current water pressure. If the pressure gets up above 65 psi, then there is the possibility of damage. Pressure measuring devices are available at most hardware stores and at many sites on the internet for less than $20. I have my water pressure measured annually by my water purification system guy.

The house interior pressure regulator is located along the wall in the garage near the floor where the water pipes come into the house. Over time ours had ceased controlling the pressure within this range and was leaking greater pressure into the pipes in the house. This caused our refrigerator line feed to rupture and flood the house. When we had ours replaced we installed pipe unions on both sides of the regulator so we could easily remove the regulator for cleaning or replacement.
